Standing tall, he walked on with pride,
This was going to be one hell of a ride!
At the final of World Darts at Lakeside, Frimley
A mass of faces he could see!
Deep breath, he threw his first dart,
Could the crowd hear his pumping heart?
Two sets down and he knew he had to win
The next set and when he did – boy did he grin!
Dart matched dart,  thump thump against the board,
Deano Deano he could hear being called.
The tension in the room could be felt
Like the crack of a leather belt,
The heat made sweat roll down his face,
A towel was his saving grace.
Fourth set, Fifth set – level they stood
Then Wolfie upped his game, because he could
Pull from the wealth of experience he has had,
And the crowd went ever so slightly mad.
Dean Winstanley might have lost the game
However he has put strength behind his name,
A name not to be forgotten, a name to make you stop
A true Yorkshire man who will have you on the hop!
